Mr. James Morris Guyer, Jr., fondly known as “Jim”, 76, of Hagerstown, died suddenly early Saturday morning, September 3, 2022, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown. He was the husband of Mrs. Betty Louise Mills Guyer, his wife of 58 years.
Born April 5, 1946, he was a son of the late James Morris, Sr., and Clara Lena Barnhart Guyer.
Jim worked for many years with the former Maugansville Lumber Company.
Surviving, besides his wife, are his children, Sandra K and James M. Guyer, III, Elizabeth A. Snyder and husband Robert, Tammy L, and Jason Guyer, Sr., And fiancee Shelly Ayers all of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and siblings Mary G. Strohl and husband Bruce of Dallas, Pennsylvania, and John Guyer and wife Denise of Hagerstown; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by brothers Jake and Fred Guyer, Roger Gordon, and Gene Barnhart.
The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Thursday, September 8, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. A service will be held graveside, on Thursday, at 1:00 PM at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 West Washington Street, Hagerstown. Those attending should gather at the front entrance of the cemetery for a procession to the gravesite moments prior to 1:00 PM.
