Betty Burger

Mrs. Betty A. Shaffner Burger, 87, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Donald Lee Burger, who preceded her in death on July 15, 1989.
Born April 15, 1929, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Irvin and Margie Eleanor Barrow Shaffner.
Mrs. Burger was employed with Chatkin Pharmacy, Hagerstown.
She is survived by a nephew, Michael Halgash, III, and his wife Magda of Falling Waters, West Virginia.
Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Burger was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael Halgash, Jr.
The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Tuesday, November 22, beginning at 12:30 PM. The funeral service will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Terri S. Confiell will officiate; and interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Burger’s name to Washington County Humane Society, 13011 Maugansville Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
