Donald Lee Wingfield

Donald Lee “Donnie” Wingfield, 67, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away August 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born October 14, 1958, Donnie was a hardworking man with a generous heart, a great sense of humor, and a gift for fixing just about anything.

A talented painter and ace mechanic, Donnie was happiest working with his hands, especially when his sons or grandsons were beside him. For 37 years, he faithfully served as caretaker of Congregation B’nai Abraham Synagogue on East Baltimore Street, a role he took great pride in.

Donnie enjoyed the simple things that meant the most—working on homes and vehicles with his boys, family camping trips, watching UFC fights, and sitting around the kitchen table talking, laughing, telling stories, and making memories. He was also someone you could always count on. If you needed help, it usually took nothing more than a phone call, and Donnie would show up and lend a hand.

Donnie will be remembered for his strong work ethic, skilled hands, generosity, humor, and the way he was always there when someone needed him.

The tools may be put away and his chair at the table may now be empty, but the love, laughter, lessons, and memories Donnie gave his family will remain with them always. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to call him theirs.

He leaves behind his soulmate, best friend and companion of more than 50 years, Robin Shipp; his sons, William "Bill" Shipp and his wife, Jamie, and Miles Wingfield and Kaitlyn who was Donnie’s dedicated and compassionate caregiver; his grandchildren, Lindsey and her husband, Tyler; Baby Billy and his fiancée, Maegan; Hunter and his fiancée, Serenity; Bobbi Lee, whom Donnie lovingly nicknamed his “Spudd”;Mak and Wyatt; and his great-grandchildren Abby, Aidan, JJ, Brooklyn, Lincoln, Braxton, Tysson, Jaysson, and Kaysson. He is also survived by his brother, Hummy, many nieces and nephews as well great nieces and great nephews and his beloved dog, Bella.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, William Wingfield land Glenda Greathouse; his grandparents, Goldie and Miles Greathouse; and several aunts and uncles.
