Dorothy Middlekauff

May 14, 1921 — November 30, 2015

Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Heckman Middlekauff, 94, of Palm Harbor, Florida, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Monday evening, November 30, 2015, in Florida.  She was wife of the late George Brewer Middlekauff, who died September 29, 2010.

Born May 14, 1921, in Hagerstown, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Kennedy and Leah Elizabeth Barkman Heckman.  She graduated Hagerstown High School, and later Columbia Business College.

Mrs. Middlekauff was the bookkeeper for Rhinehart Orchards, Smithsburg.

She was a member of Zion Reformed Church of Christ, Hagerstown; and the Zion Church School Orchestra.

Mrs. Middlekauf is survived by her sons George N. Middlekauff of Staunton, Virginia, and David I. Middlekauff of Princeton, New Jersey; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and her cousins, Dorcas A. Barkman of Chewsville, Kevin O. Barkman and Colleen Barkman Crowther, both of Hagerstown, and Dalton E. Barkman of Stephen City, Virginia.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Ruth Churchey; and cousins, Jean Marie Hoover and Eloise L. Barkman.

The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Friday, December 4, beginning at 10:00 AM.   A graveside service will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, South Potomac Street, Hagerstown, on Friday, December 4, at 11:00 AM.  Her pastor, Rev. Kevin S. Munroe will officiate.  Those planning to attend only graveside services will convene just inside the front gates.  A procession to the grave will occur just before the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Middlekauff’s name to her church, Zion Reformed United Church of Christ, 201 North Potomac Street, Hagerstown, Maryland  21740.
