Earl Grove

June 21, 1926 — April 29, 2013

Mr. Earl Loyde Grove, 86, of Hagerstown, died Monday, April 29, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.  He was the husband of Betty Jane McKinsey Grove, his wife of 66 years.

Born June 21, 1926, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Clyde Arthur and Alpha Myrtle Fox Grove.  He attended Hagerstown High School; and served in the United States Army during World War II.  He served with the Army’s 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division.

He was employed with ACME Supermarkets as a meat cutter, retiring with forty years of service.

Mr. Grove was a member of Christ Reformed Church United Church of Christ, Hagerstown.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving are three children, Gary E. Grove and fiancée Donna Barton, and Linda L. Crawford and husband Gerald, all of Hagerstown, and Nancy E. Pryor and husband Alan of Clear Spring; grandchildren, Amanda J. Crawford of Phoenix, Arizona, Angela S. Darnell and husband Matthew of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Gary E. Grove, II, and wife Susan of Hampton, Virginia; his step-grandchildren Craig Pryor and wife Sonny of Hagerstown, and Chris Pryor and wife Amy of Clear Spring; as well as his great grandchildren, Sarah and Amber Grove, and Nolan Darnell; and step great-grandchildren Tricia, Brook, Kaitlin, Hailey, Shane and Tyler; and numerous cousins.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013, at 2:00 PM, at the Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown.  Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Friday, at the funeral home.
