When Arthur died, Gayl continued to live independently and happily at Allegro Senior Living Community in Jupiter, Florida.

Shr is survived by her three children Marvin Weiss and wife Judy of San Diego, California, Robin Zabel of Frederick, Maryland , and Mitchell Weiss and wife Mary of Knoxville, Tennessee; and six grandchildren, Emily and Max Weiss, Ian Zabel, Becca Zabel Krouse and  husband Nick,  and Rachel and Megan Weiss.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Gerber, a B-17 Pilot in the 8th Air Force, who died in May, 1944, in a daytime bombing mission over Germany.

Gayl was extremely fond of her grandchildren, with whom she has a loving and lasting bond.
