Gertrude Morningstar

Mrs. Gertrude Elizabeth “Gertie” Ausherman Morningstar, 96, of Hagerstown, died Monday, March 28, 2022 at her residence.  She was the wife of the late George Edgar Morningstar who preceded her in death on September 22, 1994.

Born August 13. 1925, in Akron, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late David William and Ida Virginia Carter Ausherman.

She worked in the nursery of Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.

Gertie was a longtime member of Boonsboro Church of God.

She very much loved and enjoyed her family and life.  Gertie could be found on a beach anywhere from Florida to Ocean City, Maryland, or county line dancing; even found at the North American Rod and Gun Club surrounded by her family or her friends.

She did enjoy watching and shopping for apparel on QVC Network.

Surviving are her sons, Edward Morningstar and wife Shirley, and George T. “Terry” Morningstar and wife Teresa, all of Hagerstown; several grand and great grandchildren; and son-in-law Wayne Moser, also of Hagerstown.

In addition to her husband and parents, Gertie was preceded in death by her daughter, Doris Moser; and siblings David Ausherman and Madeline Armstrong.

The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Monday, April 4, beginning at 10:00 AM, and until the funeral service begins at 11:00 AM.  The Rev. Ken R. Harris will officiate.  Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
