Helen Earley

June 16, 1915 — April 7, 2018

Mrs. Helen Marie Widmyer Earley, 102, joined her husband and family in Heaven Saturday morning, April 7, 2018, at Homewood at Williamsport.  She was the wife of the late William M. “Bill” Earley, who preceded her in death June 4, 1996.

Born June 16, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Albert Ross and Bessie Viola Trumpower Widmyer.

Helen was employed with Interwoven Hosiery Mill and Beachley Furniture Company, both of Hagerstown.  Following retirement, she joined her sister taking several bus trips to broaden her horizons..

The best years of her life was when she and her husband had purchased their home in Greenvale Village, Smithsburg.  There they raised several schnawzers over the years, and with a love of gardening, displayed beautiful flower gardens.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by siblings Kenneth & Earl Widmyer and Edith Widmyer Poffenberger, and her nephews Philip L. and John E. Poffenberger.

The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, is handling the arrangements.  There will not be visiting at the funeral home.  A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 11, 10:00 AM, at her family’s plot in St. Paul’s Church Cemetery, 14106 National Pike, Clear Spring.  The Rev.  James F. Gano will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, Maryland  21740.
