Janet Cummings Snyder

Janet Cummings Snyder, 92, passed away peacefully in Hagerstown, Maryland on Friday, June 5, 2026. She was the wife of 64 years to the late Dr. Clovis Snyder.

Born September 18, 1933 in Newport, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Audrey Cummings.

She was a Registered Nurse, trained and worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She later worked in her husband’s office. She also graduated from Wilson College.

Mrs. Snyder volunteered frequently in her younger adult years with the AAUW book sale, Hagerstown Day Nursery and various PTAs. She was a member of St Andrew Presbyterian Church, DAR, Mayflower Society, and Women’s Club.

She had many hobbies and was artistic and creative. She sewed, painted, made crafts, knitted, and needlepointed. She was an avid reader and loved to collect antiques. She also loved the years she spent in Paris, France where her husband was stationed in the Army.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was most important in her life. Her gentle disposition and the love for her family and friends was her greatest gift to those closest to her.

Janet is survived by her son, Bruce Snyder, and daughter, Karen Dillard and husband, Scott. She is also survived by her grandsons, Brandon Dillard, William Snyder and Tyler Dillard.

In addition to her parents and late husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Stuart Snyder.

The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Friday, July 10, 2026, beginning at 9:30 AM and until services begin at the funeral home at 11:00 AM.
