Louise Dove

November 16, 1919 — June 9, 2016

Louise W Dove, 96, of Williamsport and formerly of Hagerstown, died Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown. She was the wife of the late Dr. Frederick Denton Dove, Jr, her husband of 70 years, who preceded her in death in 2013.

Born November 16, 1919 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Samuel and Jessie Savina Zuck Wampler. She was a graduate of Hagerstown High School; and earned a bachelor’s degree in English at Bridgewater College.

In school she played basketball. Louise later earned a master’s degree in Sociology and worked for years as an addiction counselor at the Washington County Health Department, and at the Maryland Correctional Center, both of Hagerstown.

Mrs. Dove was a talented pianist who enjoyed playing the organ for her church, Hagerstown Church of the Brethren. She also played singles and doubles tennis at the Fountain Head Country Club, where she was a long-time member. She was an avid bridge player, golfer, and a world traveler.

Mrs. Dove is survived by her children, Patricia Beahm of Spring City, Pennsylvania, Teresa Paisley of Perryville, Frederick Dove III of Fairfax, Virginia, and David Dove of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania; as well as 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, is handling the arrangments. A graveside service will be on Saturday, June 11, 11:00 AM, at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, with her pastor, Rev. Timothy L. Duffy, officiating.  A memorial service will be later.
