Margaret Virginia Gladden Saylor

Martinsburg

Mrs. Margaret Virginia Gladden Saylor, 87, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, passed away peacefully late Thursday afternoon, June 13, 2024, under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle In-Patient Facility, Kearneysville.

Born February 1, 1937, in Winchester, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late John Benton and Elsie Mae Virginia Orndorff Gladden.

Margaret retired in 1999 from the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, after 28 years of caring for others, a passion she held dearly.

She was a Christian by faith; and had a fondness for Gospel music.

Margaret enjoyed cooking, baking and canning; as well as gardening.  She also had a love for animals.

Surviving are her children Jamie Hess, and LaDonna Lauren and husband Ken, all of Shepherdstown, and Mark Hess and wife Cathy of Hedgesville; as well as two granddaughters, four sisters and a brother.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Clifford E. "Cotton" Hess in 2022; as well as one sister and seven brothers.

The  Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, is assisting the family with arrangements.  A private service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held later, at the convenience of the family.
