Michael Eugene "Gene" Crummitt

Mr. Michael Eugene "Gene" Crummitt, , of Sharpsburg, died Saturday morning, August 22, 2026 at Doey’s House, Hospice of Washington County. He was the husband of Mrs. Sherry Ann Stockman Crummitt, his wife of 32 years.

Born March 27, 1965, in Frederick, he was a son of the late William Edward and Peggy Lorraine Ditto Crummitt. He graduated in 1983 from Thomas Johnson High School.

Gene worked with a roofing contractor for many years.

He was an outdoorsman that had many friends.  Some of the many pleasures in Gene's life was camping with family and friends, hunting with friends, and enjoying crabs and shrimp with friends.  He was also an avid football fan with the Denver Broncos being his favorite team.

Surviving, besides his wife, is his son Frank Stockman of Sharpsburg; and step-son, Chris Stockman and wife Brooke, also of Sharpsburg; his grandson Cody Stockman; and step grandchildren, Michael, Bryce and Klayton Smith; as well as his brother, William Edward Crummitt, III and wife Annie of Frederick; and special friends Ralph and Helen Tyeryar, Charles and Connie Reed, Steven Harris and Patty Forrest; and loving companion Benji

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by siblings Teresa Crummitt-Gray, and Curtis and Norman Crummitt, and step-brother Donny Sweeney.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Gene's life on Saturday, September 26, at 2:00 PM, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 209 West Main Street, Sharpsburg.  The Rev. Conner J. Newlun will officiate.
