Roger Miller

April 12, 1928 — December 12, 2012

Mr. Roger W. Miller, 84, of Clear Spring, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.  He was the husband of Olivia Shank-Miller.

Born April 12, 1928, in Hagerstown, he was a son of the late Walter Edgar and Mary Summers Miller.  He graduated Hagerstown High School.  He served three years in the Army Air Corp., and three years in the Air Force Reserve.  Following his service, he attended Hagerstown Community College, graduating with the class of 1952.

Mr. Miller retired March 31, 1997, after serving thirty-five years in the banking and finance industry; and sixteen year as Executive Director of the Hagerstown Housing Authority.

He was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Clear Spring.

Roger was an avid golfer where he has enjoyed the course at Black Rock since 2004.  He was formerly members at Beaver Creek and Fountain Head Country Clubs, where he was Senior Champion in 1998 at the latter.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, David A. Miller and wife Jani; step-daughter, Jennifer McKeever and husband Scott; son-in-law Roger Samuel; as well as eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and siblings, Glenn and Robert Miller of Hagerstown, and sister Beverly Morrison of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Jennie Lee Samuels; and brother, Major James L. Miller.

The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, is handling the arrangements.  There will not be visiting at the funeral home or church.  A service will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 22 Cumberland Street, Clear Spring, on Monday, December 17, at 11:00 AM.  The Rev. Seven L. McCarty, Vicar, assisted by Rev. John D. Cozzoli, deacon will officiate.  Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.
